Lorraine O’Grady and Sam Vernon in Conversation
August 10, 2022
Lorraine O’Grady, the focus of our 2021-22 research season, is joined in conversation by CCA Assistant Professor Sam Vernon. The two artists discuss the impact of Lorraine’s work on a younger generation and on contemporary culture in general. This dynamic, intergenerational discussion addresses topics related to Lorraine’s work and its sphere of influence.
Sam Vernon earned her MFA in Painting/Printmaking from Yale University in 2015 and her
BFA from The Cooper Union in 2009. Her installations combine xerox collages, photographs, paintings and sculptural components in an exploration of personal narrative, identity and historical memory. Sam teaches at CCA and Bard College.
This is the tenth and final event in our year-long season dedicated to thinking about our contemporary moment through the lens of Lorraine O’Grady’s work. ( … )
